When the Val Casies wraps itself in its white mantle everything grows still – and extraordinarily beautiful.
Outside, cross-country trails, pistes and winter hiking paths beckon; inside, warmth and tranquillity await.
Whether on skis, with snowshoes or simply on foot, winter here reveals its gentlest side.
Perfectly positioned between the renowned ski areas of Plan de MCorones and Tre Cime Dolomiti, Waldheim is ideal for those who appreciate variety. With the Ski Pustertal Express running every half hour, you can reach both resorts with ease – together offering around 200 kilometres of pistes. For shorter outings, the Colle ski lift is only a few metres from the hotel, and the family-friendly ski area of Santa Maddalena is also within easy reach. A ski room with boot dryer ensures everything is ready for the next day’s adventure.
The classic winter experience in the Val Casies is cross-country skiing.
The trail runs directly past the house, with more than 40 kilometres of perfectly prepared tracks through the valley.
As a Waldheim guest, you receive discounted day or weekly passes – and in our small workshop room, you may even wax your skis.
For a more leisurely adventure, take a toboggan.
Popular toboggan runs await at the Uwaldalm and the Taistner Alm – both with welcoming refreshment stops.
You may bring your own toboggan or hire one locally.
The Val Casies is a hidden paradise for ski tourers.
All around the valley, magnificent routes await, leading to peaks such as Monte Alto/Hohen Mann, Monte Lavinarossa/Rotlahner, Punta Alta Croce/Hochkreuzspitze, Kalksteiner Jöchl and the Uwaldalm.
Tours for every ambition – from gentle ascents to rewarding summit climbs.
At reception, you will receive up-to-date information on weather, snow conditions and avalanche forecasts.
Quiet paths, snow-covered meadows, crystal-clear air.
Numerous tours begin directly from the hotel, leading through the winter landscape to the Schuheralm, the Forcella di Casies/Gsieser Törl, Monte Pfinn, Cornetto della Val Casies/Hörneggele and Monte Alto/Hohen Mann.
Simply set off, listen to the snow crunch beneath your feet and feel the magic of winter.
